Sapore Espresso, Belmont

Sapore Espresso is a cafe located in Belmont serving homestyle food with a modern twist. Belmont isn't normally a suburb you would normally go to, to find trendy cafes but all those delicious posts on Instagram led us here. We arrived around lunch time on a Sunday during their busy period so there was a bit of a wait for the table and our food, but this wasn't a major issue for us.

Choc-Peanut Butter Milkshake ($8.50)

We decided to go for the choc-peanut butter flavour as it wouldn't be too crazy sweet and we both love peanut butter. We were glad that they served us the drinks quickly so that it distracted us from the long wait for our food. The milkshake was amazing, we loved the maltesers and peanuts on the top. The milkshake had a nice malt-chocolatey flavour, while the peanut butter gave it a subtle savoury element. We must warn you to not wear white, as the cream and chocolate leaks all over the sides which creates a bit of a mess. Also try not to drink too much of it or you won't be able to finish your food! We rate it 8/10

Corn Fritters with Tomato Avocado Salsa ($17.50)

Since we were having brunch we felt like having a dish from their breakfast and lunch menu. The corn fritters sounded like a light fresh meal which we had to try. The dish was served beautifully and looked extremely appealing. It tasted great but it didn't blow us away. On a positive note, the fritters were a wonderful combination of creamy egg and crunchy corn and the poached eggs drizzled in balsamic dressing was a nice touch. However we felt it could've had some more flavour other than the tiny bowl of tomato and avocado salsa. We rate this dish 7/10

Pasta of the day: Chicken & Mushroom Fettuccine ($16.50)

We felt like getting our carb fix for the day, so we decided to go for this dish. It had nice creamy flavour to it, however we've had better pasta before. In our opinion, the pasta was under cooked and not quite al denté but that may be due to the thickness of the fettuccine. There wasn't too many pieces of chicken or mushroom which we would've liked more of. We give it a rating of 6.5/10.

Overall Review

One thing we loved about Sapore is that their breakfast menu runs until 2pm and the lunch menu starts at 12pm and runs till 2pm, so you can get the best of both worlds. We recommend coming on a week day, since its a hyped up cafe it gets very busy during the peak periods. The food was good quality, the serving sizes quite large and you definitely get what you pay for. We have to say that the food was pretty average and it didn't have the wow factor we were looking for, but maybe we're just getting fussy now. Overall we give them a rating of 7/10

  1. I've been meaning to try this place out! Sounds like the milkshakes are the best part from what I've heard :) I love peanut butter too!

    1. It's definitely worth a try! The milkshakes are delicious and there were a few yummy looking cakes and donuts on the counter that we're yet to try :)
