Harvest Espresso, Victoria Park

This is one of very few places that we always re-visit in Perth, we've been coming here for brunches with friends and family before we even started food blogging! It's a tiny 35 square metre cafe tucked away in Vic Park. Even though the place is tiny, the food is immaculate, the coffee is amazing, the customer service has no faults and we've never been disappointed by Harvest. However it would be best to come on a weekday as it does get packed out on the weekend and you'll have to wait about 15-20mins to get a table.

Ice Matcha with Ice Cream ($6)

This is the ideal drink for Matcha lovers, its a perfect balance of sweetness from the ice cream and bitterness from the green tea. The Matcha was very smoothly blended with almost no lumps at all. If you normally love your ice coffee, this can be a great alternative. We give it a rating of 9/10.

Ice Dirty Chocolate Chai Latte ($6)

This is a lovely twist on a regular Chai Latte. It was the perfect balance between sweet and bitter, normally chai latte can be sickly sweet especially when they use chai syrup but here they brew it with chai tea leaves which definitely makes a difference. The chocolate flavour gave it a more unique taste and we liked how you can pour as much as you want in. We rate it 8/10.

Grilled Octopus, Smoked Chorizo, Two Poached Eggs, Humus ($21.50)

We've pretty much tried everything on this menu besides this dish, as it seems a little odd to have octopus and chorizo for breakfast/brunch. However we did see that it had won the Chowzter Tastiest Breakfast in Asia 2015 so we had to give it a go. Firstly we would like to mention that the eggs at Harvest are always perfection and this was no exception, words do not do it justice, just see the picture above! The tender octopus, with a hint of spice from the chorizo were beautiful together and the humus worked perfectly to tone down the flavours to make sure it wasn't too "meaty" and added some creaminess. Plus everyone loves humus! This is an amazing alternative to your typical bacon and eggs, definitely very hearty and filling, and of course it deserved a 10/10 from us.

The Chicken and The Egg ($20.50)

When this dish was served, it looked amazing and we knew instantly it would taste as good as it looked. We loved the idea of having chicken for breakfast as everyone loves chicken, why not have it for breakfast! The chicken was beautiful and tender, and the meat just falls off the bone. We liked how it is served with only the leg and thigh piece as they are the most succulent part of a chicken. The crepe, perfectly cooked egg and romesco sauce tied the flavours of this dish together. However, we did not like the sweetness of the bacon jam and we're glad it was only a tiny bit on the side. We recommend trying this dish on a empty stomach as it is very filling, we rate it 9.5/10.

Another plus at Harvest is that we always get the best food photos here because of well-lit space!

Tonka Toast ($18.50)

At this point we had realised that we over-ordered for the two of us, but we had to squeeze a little dessert in. The french toast was irresistible, nice and crispy on the outside, and super light and fluffy on the inside. This dish was the perfect amount of sweetness, as most of it came from the fruit and a tiny bit of syrup. The fruit on top was also warm and slightly cooked which was a nice touch. The dollop of cream and granola sprinkled over the top made this dish perfect and deserving of a 9/10 rating.

Overall Review

Overall there was nothing we could fault with the customer service, the ladies there are always lovely and pleasant every time we visit. The only problem is we wish that the cafe would expand and be able to house more guests because when you're hungry you don't want to be waiting. The serving sizes are always huge and you get what you pay for, unlike other Perth restaurants. Harvest changes their menu every season and we are excited to try the Autumn menu and we suggest you do too! They absolutely deserve a rating of 9.5/10.
